Entering the art world as a self-taught artist (Elliot’s degree is in Natural Resources) her credentials are patience, observation, perseverance and, quite simply - effort. The hours she spent in the Dendrology lab tediously identifying trees by their bud tips and bark has paid off. Elliot has an instinctual ability to attach human qualities to her subjects. “I carry a camera everywhere I go because you never know when you’re going to drive by a great face.” All of this provides her with an endless supply of ideas, and the desire to challenge herself further in the creation of her long limbed friends. Sometimes environmentally based, often humorous, whimsical, or full of tiny people, Elliot’s trees have personalities and character.  She hopes to evoke nostalgic memories, raise environmental consciousness, and appeal to the tree hugger in all of us.
