Valerie Paul

Valerie grew up in California as a third generation artist inspired in her youth by the artwork of her mother and grandmother.  She has fond memories of her countless childhood trips to the rugged coastline and beaches of central and northern California, the galleries and museums around the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as the local art supply store.  Combined, these experiences fueled the desire for her to express her creativity primarily through the medium of watercolors.  As an adult, Valerie moved to Maine to raise her children and immediately drew inspiration from the natural beauty of her newly adopted home. She continues to be awestruck by the power of the ocean around her and it remains a constant inspiration for her work.  She is particularly mesmerized by the ocean's constant demonstration of aliveness from the mysterious darkness of it's greatest depths to the rhythmic motion of it's luminous waves.
