Heart of the Earth was founded in 2009. As sole owner and artisan, Dale Sherburne
finds peace and inspiration in the natural treasures of Maine that reflect the beauty and wonder of nature around us. The first heartstone came to her as a “sign.” Her father-in-law Russell, a man she loved dearly, had just passed away. On a beautiful fall day shortly thereafter, her husband and herself returned to the remote lakeside cabin that had been such a vital part of Russel’s life. As they set out for a walk along the cabin’s solitary dirt road, the loss of Russell swirled around them. It was then that Dale looked down, and there at their feet looking up at us, lay a wondrous heart-shaped stone. Thus began my journey with the heartstone – may yours hold its own special meaning and bring you much joy. Sherburne finds these stones and makes them into jewelry and also frames them in unique frames with small words of love and encouragement.
